Wednesday – 4 July 2007 – Icefield Glacier Parkway

After a sumptuous buffet this morning at Le Chateau, we headed north along the Icefield Glacier Parkway (I don’t think this is the proper name – it’s HWY 93 in Alberta) but it does pass many of the major glaciers in Alberta. Didn’t make it all the way to Jasper – too far, what with the return trip to Banff. Saw lots of spectacular scenery – probably one of the most spectacular drives in the world.

Like most tourists we pulled off at almost every scenic overlook – plus several beside-the-road spots. It is hard to choose the best, so I’ve included a few of the best scenes – postcard stuff!

Back to the motor-home this afternoon. Suki was happy to see us. We promptly lay down for a two-hour nap! Such is the life of retirement (and staying awake all night watching the scenery!). An after-dinner walk for the puss made his day.

Dinner was a “come-down” from last night, but such is the life of the RV-er! Tomorrow we’ll go grocery shopping and re-supply the larder. Also, we’re out of wine, so a visit to the local liquor store is mandatory. We plan a major laying-in of wine when we reach the Okanagon valley next week (Canada’s Napa Valley equivalent).
